About This Spot

Nestled amidst the lively bustle of Pier 39, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant offers a welcoming respite that blends the spirited energy of San Francisco’s waterfront with a comforting sense of ease. As you step inside, the gentle hum of conversations mingles with the distant calls of sea lions and the intermittent clink of glasses, setting a relaxed yet subtly vibrant tone. Large windows frame stunning views of the pier and the Golden Gate Bridge, allowing the soft shifting light of the bay to spill across tables and illuminate the inviting atmosphere.

This is a place where time slows just enough to savor the connection between ocean and plate. The pace is unhurried but attentive, with staff moving gracefully through the dining room, attentive without intruding, creating a warm, approachable vibe that complements the natural beauty outside. Whether you find yourself drawn to a cozy corner or a sunny seat by the window, the mood here encourages lingering conversations and quiet enjoyment alike.

Pier Market is where the spirit of classic American seafood meets the fresh, vibrant influences of California’s coastal fare. The kitchen’s offerings invite you to explore the textures and flavors of the sea in thoughtful, uncomplicated ways — from a fragrant bowl of New England clam chowder nestled inside crusty sourdough to the satisfying mix of oysters and crab that feels both familiar and celebratory. There’s a casual joy in sharing plates like the fisherman’s platter or savoring unexpected touches, such as garlic fries that surprise with their crispness and depth.

The experience is enhanced by simple pleasures: a carefully poured local lager, the gentle warmth of a well-crafted dessert, or the comforting aroma of freshly baked sourdough mingling in the air. Here, the joy lies not only in the food but in the unspoken connection to the water, the neighborhood’s charm, and the moments shared with those around you.

In short, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant invites you to partake in a local ritual, one where the day’s catch, the harbor view, and the company of fellow diners come together in a quietly memorable way. It’s a spot where the pulse of the city slows down enough for you to simply breathe in the salt air and savor the flavors of the bay.

Pier 39 has a treasure trove of placer to dine. PMSR was a nice little spot in our adventures for the day. The cocktails were a little too “perfumy” for our liking. We were expecting more of a rum punch kind of taste. Lobster was as fresh as can be expected. The fries were a surprise bonus of great outside crispness and tender inside. Clam chowder was top notch as well! Appetizer of crispy salmon bites were well worth it! A must get! The stylish decor was a bit off putting by the “Denny’s”esque salt and pepper shaker. I know I know. Sounds boughie. But it’s worth going through the trouble of keeping a top level asthetic

Easy to get a reservation, we got sat at the windows looking towards the golden gate bridge at sunset and it was spectacular. We started with the crab cakes, and they had great flavor with a nice texture profile. My wife got the steak & shrimp and chow mein, she said it was the best surf and turf fusion she's ever had. I got the shellfish platter and it did not disappoint, everything was cooked exactly as it should be. No complaints besides it was a little noisy.

Very nice establishment inside Pier 39. Service was fast, and friendly! The Seafood Sampler plate was really good. My favorite was the fried calamari! Crab cakes were well seasoned, and the Chowder Fries were supisingly delicious! Well worth checking them out!

Beautiful view, great food, and lovely service! The view from the window is absolutely stunning you can see the pier and even watch sea lions relaxing nearby. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a meal. The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly polite and attentive. Would definitely come back!

Considering the pre-holiday weekend, we did not have to wait much for outdoor seating that had heaters outside. The wait inside would have been considerably longer. The concierge and waiter were awesome, friendly and quick. The menu offered a variety of choices. I’ll always eat at a place at least twice before i make a final decision… that being said our food was average tasting for the price! Meal portion seemed kind of small.

The seafood was fresh and flavorful, and the clam chowder in the bread bowl was especially nice. Service was friendly and the restaurant has a relaxed waterfront vibe, making it a pleasant stop during a visit to the pier.

Visiting Fisherman's Warf and stopped here for lunch w/ some friends. Approximately 11am, quick to be seated, good server/waitress (she checked on us regularly), and good food. Had a clam chowder bread bowl. It was good, nothing spectacular, but definitely good. (I think their just fun to look at moreso.) Squid appetizer was good. Muscles and linguine dish was great. Friends enjoyed their crab , seafood platter , and soup. I would come back.

We were feeling a little bit tired from walking around the pier, decided to take a break here, tried their clam chowder, garlic fries, and mission margarita and they were all absolutely delicious! They actually have seating right next to the water which was a delightful surprise so you get amazing views whilst enjoying the food and drinks too. Service was absolutely delightful, highly recommended!
